The United States and Jordan have unveiled a new trade agreement designed to enhance economic collaboration, dismantle trade barriers, and create fresh opportunities for businesses in both nations. The agreement ensures that Jordan will maintain duty-free access for the majority of American goods entering its borders. Additionally, both countries have committed to working jointly to eliminate logistical and trade impediments to bolster commerce flow.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer highlighted that the agreement aligns with President Donald Trump’s strategy to fortify economic and strategic partnerships in the Middle East while opening new markets for American exporters. This deal signifies a concerted effort to deepen ties and foster economic growth between the two countries.

On the other hand, Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, stated that Jordanian exports to the US will incur a 10 percent tariff. However, US exports to Jordan will continue to enjoy exemption under the existing free-trade agreement. Qudah expressed optimism that this arrangement will spur increased investment between the United States and Jordan.

The US and Jordan initially signed a free-trade agreement in 2001, making Jordan the first Arab nation to establish such a pact with Washington. By 2010, all duties under this agreement had been eliminated, paving the way for a robust trading relationship.

According to US government data, trade between the two countries reached $5.34 billion in 2025. Jordan’s primary exports consist of chemicals, garments, mineral products, and precious stones. Its major import partners include China, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.
