Iran Warns US of Prolonged Conflict if War Resumes

by admin477351

Iran has issued a stark warning to the United States, suggesting that any new conflict between the two nations could be prolonged and unpredictable. According to Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia, a potential future war might last longer than previous engagements, with Iran asserting control over its response to any military aggression.

The warning was echoed by Iranian Defence Minister Mehrdad Akhlaghi, who emphasized that any attack on Iran would provoke a proportionate and decisive response. He highlighted Iran’s determination not to allow its adversaries to dictate the scale, timing, or consequences of its defensive actions.

Additionally, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps indicated that any potential conflict with the United States would likely not be confined to a specific geographical area, implying that the ramifications could be felt across a broader region.

Despite these warnings, diplomatic efforts to resolve tensions are ongoing. Iranian negotiators have been engaged in talks with Qatari mediators in Doha, aiming to reach an agreement to end the conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted that these discussions are part of a continued consultation process with Qatar, and while a final agreement has not yet been reached, Tehran remains committed to pursuing both diplomatic and defensive avenues.

The international community remains watchful, particularly as concerns grow over the potential resumption of hostilities following the upcoming U.S. midterm elections on November 3. While U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that there will be no new attacks on Iran before the elections, he has left open the possibility of further military action afterward, even as he acknowledges the productivity of ongoing negotiations with Tehran.
